Andrew Taines, baritone, fell in love with music and theater at an early age upon seeing a production of The Mikado. During his years while living in New York City, Mr. Taines sang the entire Gilbert and Sullivan canon, including leading roles in Patience and Ruddigore. With New York Grand Opera, under the direction of Vincent LaSelva, Andrew sang in the ensemble for many Verdi operas, both the very obscure (Alzira, Giovanna d’Arco) and the well-known (Aida, Il Trovatore), as well as concerts in Carnegie Hall of the Verdi Requiem and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Mr. Taines also has sung the baritone roles of the Count and Don Alfonso in Le Nozze di Figaro and Così fan Tutte. Pursuing his love of early musical comedies, Andrew presented a production of the 1924 Jerome Kern musical, Sitting Pretty. Andrew has performed roles in the plays, The Man Who Came to Dinner and Charley’s Aunt. Recently, Mr. Taines sang in the MOMENTum concert with Modern Men and is pleased to be joining Coachella Valley Singers.
