Jerome Elliott Moskowitz, tenor, is an alumnus of the 2008 International Cabaret Conference at Yale University under the wing of the late cabaret impresario Erv Raible, and has done workshops and masterclasses with Julie Wilson, Lina Koutrakos, Sally Mayes, Pamela Myers, Rita Gardner, Jason Graae, John Bucchino, Sharon McNight, and Amanda McBroom. Jerome has performed his original cabarets at clubs across the country including Michael Holmes Purple Room Supper Club here in Palm Springs, The Duplex in New York, MBar in Los Angeles, Davenport’s in Chicago, Egan’s Ballard Jam House and Julia’s in Seattle, and The Chapel Venue in St. Louis.

Jerome is a South Jersey native who has called California home for the past 46 years. He holds a B.A. in drama from Franklin & Marshall College, where he was an actor at the Green Room Theatre and spent his summers as part of the Fulton Opera House Summer Repertory Company (South Pacific, High Button Shoes, Scapino!, The Front Page, et al.).

In San Francisco he enjoyed a successful career in arts administration at American Conservatory Theatre, while also pursuing a passion for playwriting with the Theatre Rhinoceros Playwright’s Workshop. Arriving in Palm Springs in 2002, he was attracted to the vibrant community theatre scene, appearing in musicals at Palm Canyon Theatre (Sweeney Todd, Company, The Fantasticks), and non-musical plays with the Thorny Theatre, the Joslyn Players, California Desert Repertory Theatre, Indio Performing Arts Center, and Keith Coleman productions.

Jerome has been a company member of Desert Ensemble Theatre since 2013, and in 2018 he became DET’s Artistic Director. Along the way he has won 13 Desert Star Awards from the Desert Theatre League in acting, cabaret, and directing. DET staged the world premiere of his new play Do Not Remove Label in 2022 to great acclaim.
